I’ve got a 2011, 4.4. With 92k on the clock. I’ve recently experienced a vibration through the steering when I’ve decelerated from between 70 and 75 mph. It feels as though you are driving over the rumble strips at the side of a motorway. It only happens occasionally. I’ve had the steering, suspension, bushes etc checked at a garage and they are all fine. It only happens occasionally. The non Land Rover garage suggested it may be a gearbox related issue, but as he could only get it to happen once that was only an educated guess. He suggested I take it to a Land Rover specialist. It doesn’t happen when I decelerate at any lower speed. I’m not experiencing any other gearbox issues. Any pointers as to what could be the cause please.

This could be a sticking brake caliper, on my 2004 car it was a front caliper, but other threads on here have suggested rears can produce the effect too. The rears are especially prone to sticking due to not operating other than under heavy braking/with a heavy load.

If safe to do so, stop after the vibration has occurred and test the heat of the wheels, they ought to be cool, if warm or hot get the calliper free'd off or replaced as necessary. Note in bad cases the wheel can get very hot, in my case there were clouds of smoke off the brake when I stopped, so I didn't need to touch the wheel to diagnose the problem, care required. Only Range Rovers since 1988

Had the same on mine same speed as well just had new disks and pads and new rear callipers all gone now
rear disks (both getting hot) has done this be fore like cs says thay dont get used much

Thanks again, I just wouldn’t have thought of it being a brake issue. That is far less frightening than it being a gearbox issue.
