fueling, if i open pump too much fueling stops,

hi all ,

just filled up for 2nd time only, and thought error was with first pump first time

but i can only very slowly let fuel into the car, or it automatically stops and the pump clicks off, as if it is full tank

only if i let pump go very very slow to fill, it works

i see L405 has automatic fuel detection device,,, was wondering if this could be at fault, anyone else had this?

Sounds like the unleaded wrong fuel thing has deployed. Assume your a diesel? Yellow plastic reset tool in tool kit to reset it. Cheers

James

I had this problem, virtually running on fumes when I first bought the car.

Dealer did something that helped... can’t be sure what...allowed me to at least refuel , wasn’t the wrong fuel trigger. The tell tale there is an issue , was a small funnel in the car, previously on demo & must of used it to fill the car.

I find some pumps , pump to hard , eg my local tesco, others need to be on half throttle, every time I take an educated guess
as to how much fuel is need to fill up , to avoid going away with a half empty tank . French stations almost always fill without a problem, but I’m not going to Calais every time I need fuel!

I can’t stretch over/around the car as I used to, this one thing is a complete ‘ no no ‘ I.e. putting it in from the wrong side , I wiggle waggle pull it in, pull it out....Hey , that’s enough of my sex life!

It’s better than the first day but ain’t perfect. Filters are in fact so good that in certain circumstances, when the ambient air is already polluted, a diesel car will tend to extract more particles from the air than it emits. Emissions Analytics worked with........etc etc

He who dies with the most toys wins...

Have the same issue on mine. Definitely not the missfuel trigger, checked by dealer twice. It is the modern fuel pumps that have been set to deliver at a higher pressure. My local Tesco was fine until they replaced all the pumps, same at other ‘updated’ forecourts.

I find putting the nozzle upside down, trigger above filler hole, sorts it every time. Put it in normally then twist it 180Deg.

We have the same problem with ours sometimes, and that's a 2003!! Seems to be the fuel being delivered at high pressure which builds up back pressure in the tank, rotating the nozzle helps, as does smacking the rear panel of the car until it 'burps'! Very Happy
