Sounds like the unleaded wrong fuel thing has deployed. Assume your a diesel? Yellow plastic reset tool in tool kit to reset it. Cheers

I had this problem, virtually running on fumes when I first bought the car.

Have the same issue on mine. Definitely not the missfuel trigger, checked by dealer twice. It is the modern fuel pumps that have been set to deliver at a higher pressure. My local Tesco was fine until they replaced all the pumps, same at other ‘updated’ forecourts.

We have the same problem with ours sometimes, and that's a 2003!! Seems to be the fuel being delivered at high pressure which builds up back pressure in the tank, rotating the nozzle helps, as does smacking the rear panel of the car until it 'burps'! |
