A bit of personalisation for my FF.

I always like to have a little play with the looks of my cars and thought I'd start on my FF with a set of grills instead of the standard gills. I managed to get some genuine SVO ones in tungsten (I think) with black grills which I'm having painted in Loire blue and keeping the grills black.
I paid less than a set from Powerful and they're brand new so feel pretty chuffed with that deal. Now watch it all go wrong. I dropped them off this afternoon to have them painted and should have them back by the end of the week.

For some reason (Iphone) the image ended up rotated no matter what it started out as??

Did they come with clips & sticky tape ?

You're bound to break a few taking yours off. I used no more nails tape on mine

They look nice BTW Cool

Yes all fittings were there in the box. They’re brand spanking new in the original packaging. I’m chuffed. The existing gills are quite dark compared to the door/wing but never looked out of place. My body guy is confident he’ll get a closer match and will retain the black grills too. Hope to get them back before the weekend. Very Happy

I went from Atlas silver to body coloured

I like the look of yours though - not seen those before - looking forward to some pictures

So I picked up my grills this morning and I’m very pleased with the colour match considering they were painted without the car to refer to. Better than the originals tbh.

I've only gone and bought Cam Tech Craigs SV grill!
Should be here tomorrowish I think to personalise it just a little bit more. All LR Genuine stuff too, which I like.
I've had a Powerful grill on my D4 and they are good but don't quite line up exactly like the OEM stuff does. The door vents fit beautifully and the shade is spot on whereas the grill is in black and it's the same no matter what colour car you have. Saves a bit on paint. Next will be the plastic trim at the trailing edge of the bonnet. I think this would look better in the Loire blue of the car like Red Merle has done with his.

It's a slippery slope once you get started with modifications Laughing

I know only too well. My D3 was hit up with everything but the RAI! A fortune was spent and I kept it 8 years because it was just so good at everything. My 4 was just a bit posher with a bit more power but still had an Exploration rack RRS wheels chip and the silly stainless side bars. As with everything LR it costs about 2-3 times what it should and doesn’t seem to last much longer. The grill is also genuine so I’m pleased it came at a good price (compared to fake ones, let alone genuine LR). I look forward to fitting it within seconds of it arriving. Thumbs Up

I've just realised the badge on the new grill is green whereas the current badges on the car are black. Rolling Eyes
More mucking about and more cost. Big Cry

Looks good, and at least it's only about £14!

I know but every time I tell the wife there's nothing to do, an expense pops up. Kerbed my NSR wheel in a multi storey last week and the wheel is going to cost almost £170 to refurb, ended up buying a new wheel with a part worn on it for £160 off the bay of E (Genuine not a Chinese genuine Whistle ) which is due today. Existing wheel has a brand new tyre on it so I have to pay to get that swapped over. Just goes on and on. The joys of owning a FF I suppose. Very Happy

Ok so now I have the new grill fitted with a black/silver badge to match the other badges on the car. I have also fitted a set of LR mud flaps to both front and rear. I hadn't realised I was as old and unfit as I am until I did this. Getting the rear wheels off and fitting the rear ones was just more physical effort than I'm used to but the fronts!!! I nearly wept with frustration. I didn't have to remove the front wheels as turning the steering allowed enough space. The hole drilling despite my breath being held wasn't that painful but lining up the inner wing, outer wing, wheel tub, captive nut and mud flap was more fiddly than anything I've ever done before. Took ten minutes to fit the two upper bolts and two hours to get the bottom bolt fitted. So glad it's done.
It should save the bodywork from the mud/dirt splashing up the sides. Just having my replacement wheel fitted on Monday and I'm up to date with my project (so far).
