4.4 TDV8 Good MPG

Pal of mine came round this morning he got his hands on a 4.4 TDV8 in November he dumped his 5.0

His fuel numbers now the weather has warmed up a little 24.8 Urban hard , 35 Motorway at 75 average his mix of driving is about 50-50 on a tank and is averaging 28.5 MPG was good at the start but now he has 3k miles on it Smile

How good is that for a proper 4x4 with loads of grunt , also said he does not miss the extra HP of the 5.0 because the torque in the real world of the new car makes it almost as quick and gets the same 30-60 as he did in his petrol bar .4 sec on his GPS logger. Cool .

Be great to try a BAS or DMS mapped one !! Far to many gone...

For having driven both the 4.4 TDV8 and 5.0 Supercharged, I still prefer the Supercharged because I think it is more refined than the diesel.
The 4.4 TDV8 is a very good car but the 5.0 Supercharged is way smoother, it is not about performance but refinement and the 5.0 is superior in that department, no contest.

Well my 3.6TDv8 must be sick then because for the last 3 days, despite having warmed her up with the Park Heat and then driving off with drivers seat heater and heated steering wheel on plus the the heated screens both on I'm getting 32mpg on the 16mile run from home to town and back sat at 60mph on the main road and passing through all the villages at 30. In the Autumn I was lucky to be getting 27-29mpg on the same run with only the Climate Control on....................... something must be about to go wrong with it........... 2018 Mini Countryman Cooper S E All4 PHEV in Melting Silver - it’s whisper quiet in EV and polluter modes

During my test drive with the 4.4 TDV8 I did 21 MPG (13.5 l/100km) and with the 5.0 Supercharged 18 MPG (16l/100km) so not much of a difference really!

I must say I had very good weather while testdriving the 4.4 TDV8 and was able to properly test the performance whereas I had terrible weather with the 5.0 Supercharged and had to take it easy for safety reasons.
But still the MPG was calculated on an entire weekend with town driving mixed with motorway at steady cruising speed. I had driven the old 4.2 Supercharged and noticed the 5.0 took less fuel.
Probably because of the modern engine and direct injection I suppose and also because there's so much more power in the 5.0 that you have to rev it less than the old one.
