Your old engine's drain was already a twin drain, just a different style to the one applicable to engines made before the 2nd drain was incorporated when the engine was built. Your twin drain can't be fitted to earlier engines and vice-versa because your block had allowance for the 2nd drain when manufactured, as evidenced by the press-in fitting and single retaining bolt. I suspect that your vehicle's vin is higher than 160137, the upper limit mentioned in TSBs for smoke and DPF problems caused by the single drain. |

Regretfully turbo oil feed seals (comes with pipe) are not available from JLR till November 30th so it’s going to be off the road into the 8th week.

I assume looking at the workshop pictures it is an approved service centre rather than main dealer in Suffolk doing the work? |

Unfortunately the seals wont last and will have to be replaced with Viton seals in a few years, along with the oil filter housing gaskets but maybe LR will be providing gaskets that withstand the heat by that time.

8 weeks on Saturday and have only just got the replacement oil feed pipe with copper seals. Engine can at least start to go back in. Still waiting for some other seals and if they arrive should get the car back at the end of next week. |

In case anyone missed it, this is the primary turbo. My throttle closer has been fitted for 2 weeks and today one was fitted to my son's 3.0 D4. 2 will be fitted to my brother's 3.6 TDV8 RRS in a few weeks, 1 for each butterfly. It closes the throttle butterfly for 30 seconds every time the ignition is switched off to ensure that a runaway engine will stop when the ignition is switched off. Its a pity that LR hasn't programmed this simple action into the ecm. |

Did you spot that a twin, factory-fitted drain was fitted to this vehicle and therefore contributes nothing to the single/twin drain discussion? |
