I've just replaced the alternator on my 4.4 TDV8 so if you do decide to change it yourself, happy to provide advice if needed - I'd assess as a 6/10 difficulty as a DIY, although more fiddly than difficult. |

Thanks all i think it will be the alternator but just checking other peoples experiences, its covered under warranty (rac) so i wont be doing it myself, but i worked as a mechanical fitter many years ago and normally do all my own stuff, thanks for the offer JCW i would take you up on it if i was doing it myself. 2011 4.4 tdv8 autobiography black

Just my 2p worth, but doesn't the intelligent charging system not start charging until the engine has been running for 2 minutes?

Hi, I have just had the same problem, it turned out to be the alternator. There was also a slight burning smell (which apparently accompanies a alternator meltdown). |
