Front end conversion

Hi chaps,

Went and had a looksy at Macdaddys front end kit and wanted to know if anyone on here has actually done the conversion themselves?

I've tried the search facility on here but with no joy, I do remember searching ages ago somewhere in cyberspace and finding either a sequence of pictures or a video of someone doing the whole thing. Just wanted to know what pitfalls there maybe before hacking away at my lovely car Smile

I've read that the lights can throw up faults, but I'd get an auto spark to wire the lights, it's the other faults I's be interested in hearing about, the K&N throwing faults for mixture and oiling up AFM etc????

Any advice would be very much appreciated.

There is no reason for the lights to throw up faults. I wouldn't let an auto electrician near the car unless he has specifically worked on the L322 before and has done the conversion.

You would be better off just buying the converter plugs. It's really not that hard.

You will have to get a cone filter, and also a filter for the SIA pump. You'll need to get some extra tubing for the washer jets, although these are a bit useless as the pump isn't rated for 4 large jets - you can replace the washer bottle with the uprated pump though.

It's easy to make a hash of the wings - Mine have a half inch gap between the headlight and the wing on the nearside. Thankfully it's hidden by th light guard.

i did mine in a weekend, no problems really, the problems with the lights are if you do a 2010 conversion not a 2006 2002 td6 vogue, 06 supercharged facelift

am i correct in saying that a td6 doesn't need a cone [k&n] air filter when converted.. ... - .- -.

no cone filter needed on a td6, but the pipe from the inner wing to airbox is a tight fit 2002 td6 vogue, 06 supercharged facelift

Not sure of the conversion you refer too, but if its a 2010 coversion, do it yourself. Most of its easy!! Wiring- just follow l322.com guide and i managed the front as a novice( regard wiring).

Happily guide if need advice!

I've had a k&n style filter and no issues.

Dan- if you wanted to rectify gap it wouldn't be that hard. If your conversion is the same as 2010 its just about where the inner bracket been mounted/ stuck. Depending on how they fixed it, just remove light? grill/ bumper etc, detach bracket, re apply using silka flex or i'd use p40 if doing again (dries quicker) and re fit. Prob take you 1/2 day depending on how they attached!!
