Is EGR blanking needed after delte?

Just had the EGR valves on myTDv8 mapped out with an extra 45bhp added too, which is very nice power-wise, (wow she flies!!) although not see quite the increase in mpg I was hoping for (which apparently is helped by the bhp increase).

I was told that if the valves are working ok and are able to shut properly there’s no need to blank them off necessarily, as they are now essentially turned off. I’m wondering if it’s still worth blanking them anyway as the kit is quite cheap and it looks like a job I can do myself, once I figure out exactly where they are!

So for those who have had the remap and delete – did you blank too?. 2007 Range Rover Vogue 3.6 TDV8

Yes.

The kit was approx. £35 on the Bay of Fleas and straightforward - if fiddly to fit.

You WILL need a magnetic pick-up device to avoid dropping bit into the turbo.

Instructions that cam with kit are quite comprehensive and easy to follow - similar to swapping the EGRs for the most part, but with much less stripping down.

I’m considering doing this via the IIDTool patch but was put off by having to do the dirty bits as well. Got - 2017 SDV8 Autobiography in Loire Blue

Can an egr delete be done to an existing map or does it have to be remapped again after egr delete or can Eml light just be turned off with a tool

You can reset the EGR fault with an IID and this will turn off the EML light.

It will turn back on as soon as the EGR fault re-occurs.

The EML light can be lit due to several causes not just EGR. An IID will tell you exactly what.

Mapping out the EGRs is the re-map (ie remapped from standard). I simply had the intermediate power re-map done at the same time as the cost is the same.

A company called Southern Re-Mapping near Chieveley in Berkshire.

As I recall it was £375 for the mid-power re-map and the EGR delete was a free add-on. If I had wanted just the EGR delete, it would still have been £375 and left with standard map and EGR delete.

I've had a remap and egr delete with plates fitted for £350 all in. Made a big difference.

Plates are there for piece of mind as the end of the egr could still fail and fall off. With the plates there
If they did it wouldn't matter as the plates protect the intake.

Steve.

My predicament is that I already have a remap and doing the EGR mapping will also delete my remap. If I put my old remap back on, it will delete the EGR mapping, so I’m effectively paying for a remap I already have, to allow for both. Got - 2017 SDV8 Autobiography in Loire Blue

No I don’t think it works that way Alan, when the guy remapped mine he downloaded all my current map
And edited the values for quite a few settings. Injector opening , boost, fuel rail pressure. The egr is part of those
Values which you just edit to zero so it doesn’t open anymore. So anyone who edits your current map should be able
To zero out the egr settings without touching your current map. The plates where then fitted on the pipe
That comes out of the egr that goes into the induction so no damage can occur if the egrs do break up.

That’s what I saw anyway.

My situation is a little different Steve. I currently have a Bkuefin remap and having spoken the guys at Bell, they confirmed that the EGR delete map via the IIDTool will overwrite any previous map installed.
The EGR only map is around £250 but to have the power boost and EGR delete is over £400, nearer £500, so my choice is, keep my remap wihich is bought and paid for, or pay for the IIDTool remap nd EGR together. Got - 2017 SDV8 Autobiography in Loire Blue

Seeing as the Bluefin just over writes any current map I can’t see a problem if you can find someone who can edit the Bluefin map on the car. Pete is an expert but there are other people who can do it. Where do u live?

I had two quotes for EGR delete and both offered a remap included in the price. Both were similar at around £250. One was with a Quantum agent cvd the other with a well respected independent.

So if you want to retain a remap and get an EGR delete you ought to be able to do it for around that price. 2016 Skoda Octavia VRS Estate
