An interesting little story for you guys... Now we all know the 3.0V6 takes an absolutely critical type of engine oil! And mixing that oil with an-other NON correct grade can leave your engine with coagulation issues! This I'm sure has been the issue of many 2.2 Defender engines as well as the 3.0 SDV6...
Now, a friend owns a 2014 SDV6 D4 and put her in for a 48k service in a MD... Got the car back and rang me a day or two later to ask "does your D4 tick more when its warmed up? & none when its cold" "ohh i said, not sure thats right pal! Give the MD a ring and ask them to check (an audit trail for the oil used at that particular service) if they cannot be 100% certain! Tell them your concerns! As that has never happened to my knowledge to any SDV6 engines we have ever serviced and therefore could have had the incorrect oil used...
The MD had the car back and for the first few days said there were no issues and even said an employees D4 sounded the same! He then suggested if they could not trace the oil used 100% accurately then he would seek legal advice! 24hrs later there is an e-mail telling him a full flush and re-service was being carried out FOC...
He had it back last week and as I'm sure you've all guessed, the ticking has now gone
