How reliable has your FFRR been?

Just reading through all the reviews on What Car? Hardly anyone is happy with their RR.

http://www.whatcar.com/car-review-readers.aspx?RT=2245

In the short time I've had mine, I've got no complaints. Early days I know. 2010 MY Vogue SE TDV8 3.6 Stornoway Grey- fully loaded

no problems yet - apart from a dodgy battery replaced under warranty. My seat base has split though - plastic thingy where the elec buttons are mounted - I believe this is a common problem???

Mine has gone as well, a dealer quoted £70 for this trim.

Cheers,

Phil

Reading through, most of the moans tend to be concerned with the TD6 and pre 06MY.

Take them out of the equation and it would have been virtually 5* all the way. Mr. Green

Been in a LR product for almost 14 years now so I know what to expect and I expect to know what's going on. A lot of the time the moans are to do with poor dealer fixes which are not the intrinsic fault of the car. Also, it's true to say that there are folks out there who just like to moan.......... 2014 Range Rover Vogue SDV8 Nara Bronze

Its got to be said, reliability for such an expensive car is pretty poor.

I get the impression they're just poorly made.

eg I remember fitting rear lamp guards to a previous L322 I had. On removing the rear lamps, one side had one washer and a pin holding the lamp, and the other side had 3 washers and a bit of plastic holding it in. This was a brand new car at the time meaning it was done at the factory!

The one Ive got at the moment has a squeeky drive belt when cold, the driver's window has come away from its runners and there's a little drip of oil taht appears under the car if left for a day or two!

I tend to save all the faults up for service time, otherwise it would just live at the dealer....This has been the same on the last 3 examples Ive had so I reckon its pretty typical of the mark...That said, still luv 'em tho!

i tend to disagree in the fact that yes you shoild expect a fault NO matter how much you spend , also i think the range rover is a very good vehicle in terms of quality , fit and reliability i know im gonna get slated for my comments but i feel that a lot of the problems , not all of them tho are caused by general lack of use i.e

1) how often do you use low range / with manual shift - most probly never get used
2) suspension faults - how often does your suspension go thru its full travel , how often do you use off road height / kerb height - most probly very little
3) HDC - probly never
4) air con - only in summer i suspect

and so on

all these components have vast arrays of electrical component / sensors if you dont use them they play up and you get your fault codes error messages and because 99% of owners only buy a RR is for looks and are not interested in what it can do , these are the people who moan when they have problems and then slate the car for being at fault when really the fault is the owner my rant just my observational oppinion Thumbs Up onto no6 Range Rover

This is the first that has not gone back to the stealer on the back of a lorry, so far. It would help if the dealer had a faint idea of how it should work. letters not necessarily in the right order

1) how often do you use low range / with manual shift - most probly never get used.
Lots when it snows.
2) suspension faults - how often does your suspension go thru its full travel , how often do you use off road height / kerb height - most probly very little
I actually use Access Mode twice a day, just because I can, I also use extended whilst sat in traffic and watch the sheer amaizement on the face of the driver behind me!
3) HDC - probly never
Loads when it snows - now I just use it in the multi storey car park, mainly for my own amusement!
4) air con - only in summer i suspect
Is on all the time becasue I appreciate that it dehumidifies in winter.

I think that a lot of problems are down to shoddy workmanship/build quality, I suspect they are put together by people who just dont give a damn (but that may be an unfair assumption)
I also think a lot of problems are down to poor maintenance - not nesaserily by the owner, but by the poorly trained dealer staff. (When I went to get my diff fixed they broke my steering column by holding it on adjust till the motor fked up!)
