New buisness

Hi Guys
I'm after a bit of guidance please. My wife if looking to start up a franchise. She's a teacher currently but getting increasingly Censored off with school life and how it's going so she's been looking for a get out for a while. An opertunity has come about to take on a franchise in a children's music/play group. She had contact with the lady who runs it all and seems like a good business and she knows another lady who is a franchisee and has given good reports on figures to make it profitable.
Now neither of us have owned or run a business so looking for guidance on best ways to do tax type things etc.
Are there any online company's who can look at the contracts to make sure their ok and nothing crazy or underhand in them. (I wouldnt think there would be)
Thanks for any help/advice in advance.

Not entirely true or surely the model wouldn't exist......

I think you need to be clear what you're getting & paying for, then decide whether you can go it alone or would be better as part of an umbrella organisation.

There are all sorts of factors in play, some as simple as you're supplied with the script & all the materials - others are more subtle, like people sometimes want to be customers of a bigger entity rather than a 1 man shop - even though it's not a material difference

That would be the end of the sytem then...

I have had two franchise org's for years and we ALL made great money out of it. It just depends upon what you put in and what you get out of it, what's your long terme goal and how are your business skills.
To many people stepped in a franchise org hoping that the org would do the work for them, that is not going to happen. They help you, train you and give you the tools and the product. But YOU have got to do the work.

I give in ...there are franchise org's that are just franchising to get the first inlay out of the victims and leave you hanging. So do your due dilligence, have the contract checked, be aware of the obligations from both sides. If they don't do any general marketing efford, forget it, Look at their competition. If the franchise seller is in need of money...forget it. Take care and success with finding the right opportunity

Hi. I work as Business Consultant and advisor working with SME’s , including franchisees, and it can be a great option. Worthwhile getting some third party advice if you are uncertain to run you through the pros and cons, etc.

Somebody with prior knowledge , who has your best interests at heart and who isnt wearing rose tinted specs! This advice can also help you run the business better.

Good luck.

Mike
