Air con pipe leak.

Hi everybody!
So the garage have told me that one of my air con pipes has been 'holed' by rubbing on ( I think they said ) the earth strap, but can't be sure. I have been waiting for them to ring me back with a price for new pipe etc .... but I aint waiting no more. What I am asking is this, is there a photo of the pipework 'run' anywhere on the web so that I can see where the pipe is under the engine and then see where the hole is and then get a part myself ?
Any advice would be of great value.
Cheers. 'Knowledge Is Power'

Which pipe is it, and which engine / year ?

On the tdv8 one pipe goes up and across the front of the car by the radiator, so doubt it's that one.
The other goes down and across the front of the sump. I'm not sure where the engine earth strap is, but don't think it's down there.
I would be inclined to check the drivers (right hand) side of the engine where the pipe must come across to the inner wing.

Maybe take the engine cover and pollen filter off, and trace back from where the pipes enter the bulkhead. Too many toys, not enough time

Air con pipework

Thank you John. It is an 07 Vogue SE. I will take a look today and see if I can find the one that runs at the bottom of the sump. I presume that I will have to look INTO the wing from the wheel , as it were, and take off the plastic shielding inside the wing to get to see whats there?
I could still do with a diagram of the run of the pipework if anyone knows where on the web I might find one please?
Cheers. 'Knowledge Is Power'

I had a very similar issue on my 2010 3.6. The pipe that ran under the radiator had rubbed on the earth strap and then leaked. Had it changed under LR approved warranty. Took a few hours as the pipe is threaded around various parts and onto the compressor.

I think the part number was LR010858 however I think you have an earlier car so I would have a look on microcat where you can pull up the part number and diagram.

The circled part is the one that went on mine. Hope you get it sorted.

That is a great help, Tim and Joe. Mucho Gracias, mon ami ! Smile . As it happens I never got around to looking yesterday, good job really with all this new info Smile !
...and for the same problem to happen on yours, Tim, that is helpful too. Was the hole obvious when you got a look at it?

The hole was reasonably obvious but only once they had put the UV die in the system and put the UV light on it. I don’t think I would have found it without the die in it because nothing coming out to hear it as it had lost all the gas! Once it was off you could see where it has scraped a hole in the pipe though.

Just out of interest, was the hole in the flexible hose, or the metal part of the pipe ?

Thinking this could be a good thing for others to keep an eye on, if they know where to look Wink Too many toys, not enough time

It was on the metal part of pipe at the bottom of the radiator (left hand side if looking at the car from the front). It was a few years ago but I am pretty sure it was obvious where the parts were likely to rub.
