It is NOT black !!

With a heavy heart, yesterday saw the end of a 10 year love/hate relationship with "Big Bob", our L322 TD6 HSE 2002, as he went of to his new owners on the South coast.

There is now a big empty space in more ways than one!

But not for long Thumbs Up Thanks to Ian in Doncaster for a smooth and easy purchase back in the middle of May, and we are now the proud owners of "Fuscus" a 2008 (MY2009) L322 TDV8 Vogue SE (as sold, but methinks only a Vogue..based upon build sheet) in Bournville (it is not black!)

As always, a few things to fix.. the rear parking aid packed up the day before the sale, I had the bumper off to find a broken wire on the rear right sensor. New damper for the lower glovebox, and replacement drivers sun visor clip satisfied my OCD Confused

Purchase a set of 4 wheels and tyres to match the spare also Wink The 20"s are OK, but want to get back to big fat General Grabber ATs

Have to say the TDV8 is a real step up from the straight six TD6, although I am finding the power delivery a bit odd, no gentle pull aways like with the TD6 - it is all go go go !!

Now the real work begins:

Sort a brake judder at the front and a graunching brake (foot) at the back

Engine Oil change and planned gearbox oil change (hopefully to smooth out the gears a bit)

Calibrate and set suspension to my liking, with my new iiDTool BT

Then decisions on what to do about the EGR valves (I like the Aussie emulators...) and what to do if anything about the turbos - as i have seen these things like to eat engines.

Must also have a play with all the toys on board, just haven't had a chance...Got to figure out what badging is missing on the back, sold to me as an SE, so assuming "VOGUE SE" - not sure why any previous owner removed this ?

Oh and "Fuscus" ... best derivation in latin I could find for brown/bournville Cool .
Experience is the only genuine knowledge, but as time passes, I have forgotten more than I can remember Wink

Amazing Joe!!! You kept quiet on what you were going to change to, kept us all guessing!

You've scored 2009-12 rear lights too?

Loving the interior, RSE - fantastic. Loving the not black exterior too.

There's one thing that's a natural fit for a big Range Rover.... A big V8 to go in the front. Enjoy!!!

. Thumbs Up Thumbs Up Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

Spotting those two red audis there, your trio of red cars is now only a duo... Cheers, Greg

Looking good. I’d do silicone hoses if it were me. Can’t seem to find them for the 4.4 though.

Hope you get years of enjoyment. I went from TD6 to 4.4.....night and day.

Is that when they dropped the 6 pot brakes? Take it 18’s will fit over?

@ GGDR

there are three more red ones out of shot - a Ford, an MX5 and an MG Midget !! Brown is the new RED Wink

@mjdronfield

The wheels I got are the original style wheels for the car, so should be OK. Not looked closely at the brembos, but manual indicates 4 pot. Also need a thorough check on the intercooler hoses, cursory look/feel shows they are OK at present. Enjoyed Edfors EGR Valve replacement howto - not sure I want to take it on! .

Very, very nice, Joe Thumbs Up Enjoy. I've got the Oz emulators. Easy fit and discreet (they fit in the ECU box). You do have to be very patient as they take an age to send them. John

Definitely my favourite colour by far. Looks really well does that.

First job on my list would be to get rid of the EGR valves and give the turbos a once over.

Good luck with it.

You need the sun shining, then you have to stand at an odd angle and squint, or let it take you by surprise, and if you are lucky you see Bournville Very Happy

When next to a real black car, it does become more obvious Thumbs Up .

The vehicle looks fantastic. The ivory interior is definitely the nicest L322 interior, in my opinion. You just have to make sure to keep it clean all the time now!

I personally love the bonus tidbits like the Supercharged grilles, facelift rear lights, the side running boards and the titanium silver (vs. brunel grey) lettering.

Any idea what the rear badge story is ?

The TDV8 badge is in the wrong place for a Vogue SE - and that badge is missing completely Confused
