AIR SUSPENSION RIDE HEIGHT CONTROL WHEN TOWING

Hi everybody, when i connect my caravan plug to my car everything works apart from the ride height control, according to the handbook when the caravan is connected to the car (13pin plug) suspension height changes are disabled when land rover approved socket is in use, this isn't happening on mine i can still raise the car to off road height with everything connected, spoke to the main dealer and they say according to land rover i should be able to alter the ride height when caravan is connected but i'm not convinced, i used to own a 2004 RR with the same type of tow-bar and when i connected the caravan the ride height was locked at normal height and the padlock symbol would light up orange while the car was towing caravan.

Has anybody come across this? i would have thought the hand book was correct.i would be grateful for any help.

my car is 2012 westminster 4.4td

Automatic height changes that normally occur with some TR settings are disabled as well as high speed lowering but manual height changes remain available.

I've not tried on mine. But its got a trailer attached at the moment, so will try it in the morning. Mine is an aftermarket towbar with the electric kit, and the trailer light illuminates on the dash when connected.

I remember on my 2002 one, that the selection of ride height between normal and highway mode would lock out when a trailer was attached, but that option doesn't exist anymore on my '08. V8 or else ...

Mine 100% lets me alter it, I always raise it to offroad to lower the jockey wheel and then lower to uncouple and the reverse for coupling. I also had to drop it yesterday while on the move so that I could get the ariel under the height restriction at my local tip Current

Going by your replies seems like mine is how it should be, what made me doubt it was the fact that the hand book says you can't alter the height when connected,

Thanks everybody.

The warning in the towing section should begin with "automatic" which is implied further in the paragraph but is initially misleading. The trailer blinker indication only when using the genuine wiring is also incorrect because it has nothing to do with the wiring, instead only if incandescent globes or LED lights with load resistors equivalent to incandescent globes are used on the trailer.
