I don’t think it’s a typo. ZF Lifeguard Fluid 5 is the fluid that ZF recommend for the 5HP24

Might be time for a flush and refill. My only concern would be the transmission rebuilder's response if an issue arises with the trans.

Yep, I can see your dilemma. I'd be tempted to leave it, if you feel it's likely they would honour any future issues. Just to add, even if ZF had approved the fluid as meeting their 11B specification, it doesn’t make it 'suitable for use' in the ZF 5, 6 or 8-speed units. For example, Castrol Transmax Z meets the specification and is for use in commercial vehicle applications, AGIP Dexron III meets the specification and, well, it’s Dexron! The only fluids specified for the 5HP24 are the ones shown in the photo above. Phil |
