I've been told by a couple of dealers that the V6 has now gone.

For me, depreciation isn't too much of an issue, its getting the bells and whistles and engine I want. Similar to iLard said, this car is for at least 6 years so after that its probably going to be worth peanuts anyway.

Its looking like either bite the bullet and go for the V8 S/C, or look outside LR.

RedMerle.....22500 in 8 months....thats going some. Thumbs Up

You can see why I’d never be able to consider a V8 S/C, but I’d certainly like to try one Very Happy

I’d be interested to know what you think if you were to test drive one Thumbs Up

Assuming 30,000 miles a year, is the extra running cost of 5.0SC as against 4.4SDV8 not "just" about £3,000 (taking into account also that diesel is more expensive than petrol and the cost of AdBlue), so in the context of the purchase cost of an AB not that significant, especially if diesel depreciation is enhanced in the current political climate?

Both are good engines. My admittedly still quite limited experience of the 5.0SC is positive, it's quiet, smooth and refined in operation, there is a feeling of power, but it is easy to drive gently. Still running in, on Shell V Power the car consumption indicator is suggesting 23mpg average, mainly country roads and not much town driving. As the speedo over-reads a bit the real figure will be slightly less. I've no regrets about moving away from diesel, even if the filling station visits are a bit frequent. Only Range Rovers since 1988

Hats off to you in working the man maths to justify a 5.0 S/C V8 for the mileage that I do (nearer 35,000 a year Embarassed ) Thumbs Up

It’s a great thought, but even in my most optimistic moments I’d have struggled with that one Laughing

Though, if I ever get the chance just to drive one, I certainly shall (just to tick it off the list)! Very Happy
