Gearbox failure l322 vogue

On m25 today and car suddenly de accelerated then went into trans fail safe. Stopped and found I have no reverse gear also when in Nutural the transmission still appears to be engaged as you can’t push it unless you put a fuse in space 37 to shift the transfer box into nutural.
Any ideas is it a new gearbox??

Starting point would be to run the diagnostic. Have you ever serviced the oil and filter? Depending on the fault codes it could be anything so you need to take it to a transmission specialist. Current:
- L560 Velar HSE R-Dynamic D180
- Peugeot 508 2011 - 2.2 HDi GT

Past:
- FFRR V 2010 - 3.6 TDV8
- Citroen C4 1.6i Petrol
- Mitsubishi Shogun 3.2 DID
- Peugeot 607 2.2 HDi
- Nissan Primera 1.8 SVE
- Honda Civic 1.6 VTEC

Had a similar problem on my 04 4.4 and it was just the gear position switch - diagnostic check will determine if this is the case - if so then budget around £500 or there's a guy on the bay that rebuilds them for, from memory, £70.

I think it may be the transfer box ? Left it to cool down for a few hours just tried it again and it has come out of limp mode by its self. If I put it in low range it moves a couple of yards then locks up in drive in high it will drive off but no reverse in either high or low. Will get rac to come and read fault codes in the morning.
Anyone had experience of transfer box or shift motor failure ?

Mechanical problems with the NV225 transfer box are extremely unusual. Mechanical problems with the GM 5L40-E transmission are extremely common.

Yes got it diagnosed today they reckon the clutch plates in the rear of the box have failed. Gear box was rebuilt 3?years ago but out of warranty now of course.
