non start issue 4.4 v8 petrol 2002

hi guys
having a non start issue with a 2002 4.4 petrol at the mo , engine cranks but not firing
the car has been stood for 4 months as one day it developed this problem
plenty of fuel in tank ,
should i see a reading on the rev counter during cranking ? as it does not move and makes me think its the crank position sensor .... Confused 1990 3.5 v8 defender

Check for pressure on the fuel rail by careful pressing the Schroeder valve centre in. Have a rag ready and watch your eyes. You should get a squirt after cranking, if not it is Almost certainly the fuel pump. Don’t be tempted to get a cheap one, go for a Bosch 0986580130 pump and just change the pump rather than the whole sender unit. No7 - 2003 V8 Vogue
