Ah - that is just an image off Google but it is the same as mine.
I will give it a go and report back.
Thanks very much!

Just for my own clarity - do you have to remove the head unit from the car to do this work please? It is a 'right faff' to get the dashboard off so I just need to know so I can plan the time.
Someone described this as an hours work which leads be to thing it can be done in situ.
Cheers

This is what mine looks like when I finally got it to bits.
Which end of the cable needs the packing please?
They all look fine to me.

So, I've looked at the ribbon and put them back as they were. I'm unsure where to pack the paper to improve the connection and when I wiggle the ribbon it doesn't seem to make a difference, the display is still blank.
I've removed and inspected the TV tuner unit and while there is some very green marks they are not excessive.
See here:

At the moment everything looks reasonably ok so I am no closer to fixing this issue.

Short of buying "one of everything" I am not sure how to troubleshoot this.
Any help greatly received.
I would even ship my items to other folks to try on their cars - can anyone help me?

Thanks
