The life expectancy of newly installed egr valves

Hello ,this week I’ve finally fulfilled a long held ambition to own a Range Rover. I’ve bought a 2007 tdv8 124000 full service history and I’m so chuffed,I only wish I’d bought one yrs ago!
I notice in the paperwork the egr valves have been replaced 4 months ago,my question is how long can I expect them to last before needing replacement again? I hopefully intend to keep the car as long as possible.
I also intend as a precautionary measure to replace all the oils, engine, gearbox, diffs etc.
Any other measures I should consider carrying out to prevent £££££££ ‘s expenditure would be most welcome.
Any advice on “paint” to cover blemishes on the plastic glovebox lid and similar for the leather too? Thanks.
Great informative website by the way!

Welcome to the forum!

There’s a review of the L322 on Harry’s Garage (YouTube) which suggest the EGR valves should be replaced around 90k miles.

Members of the forum recommend having the EGR valves deleted. I intend to have this done next week (quoted around £250). My 2010 3.6 TDV8 FF has covered 66k miles.

Hope this helps.

Might be worth checking (or just going ahead and renewing) the two top air cooler outlet hoses. They are known to split and cause a few issues.

Other than that, change the fluids as you mentioned. I do use an engine flush additive to keep on top of any potential sludging (particularly turbo oil piping) and a diesel additive to keep the fuel system clean.

I’m also interested in repairing the finish on the glove box lids. Mine were stained by an air conditioning system cleaner aerosol 😖 2007 3.6 TDV8

Furniture clinic or gliptone do the leather dyes worth a look! You can dilute the paint with water and do the door cards and glove boxes etc too with it! Current 2007 TDV8 Vogue Buckingham Blue
