I have just re-tried, but switching ignition on or off does not affect iid voltage reading .

i always run the engine, it's a diesel so it don't cost much.. |

The car can’t be running when flashing ECU. So battery needs to be good or use inline charger or jump leads and a running car works 4.2 SC - sold , now bought back

certainly true for an ecu flash , but for ccf and height adjusts then run the engine.. ... - .- -.
