IID Tool newbie - I'm hooked

So Santa brought me an IIDTool and I've hooked it up. Awaiting the unlock code from GAP but many features are working and I've been having a play.

So much play I might have knackered my battery (see my other post!)

What are the essential mods people are liking.

I've bunch of newbie questions.

1. There are a bunch of updates available, can I update 'stuff' from my iPhone. Or do I need to take the IIDTool back inside and hook up to computer?

2. I'd like to just leave it plugged in? Is this ok or not?

3. Mine has the 8-speed but it shows 6-speed in the iPhone app. Maybe this will correct itself once I get it activated properly?

Probably a few more questions like CCF stuff coming too! Depends if the battery will play ball or play dead tomorrow!

Thanks guys,
Greg Cheers, Greg

Mine has the latest firmware and also shows 6-speed box. I assume it's the way JLR have coded the ECU rather than a misreading by the tool. 2021 D350 Fifty Edition - Carpathian Grey

My IID Tool has saved me a fortune and a lot of friends have benefitted from its use. To answer your questions-
1- to update you need to plug it into a computer. Very quick process
2-it’s not advisable to leave plugged in apparently but I have mistakenly left mine plugged in overnight and it’s not drained battery
3- i presume so . If not message the guys at gap as they have helped me on numerous occasions when mine wasn’t set up correctly. After service is second to none 👍.

Firmware can be updated from the pc
If you mean ECU updates are available , beyond the BT module and Suspension updates that are available from the app . I believe you need to send the details to Gap and they will arrange the update files but there’s a cost - see p86 of the manual re Fast Lane service

I also just got an IID tool and waiting a response to the request for update files and associated costs - they’re closed until 8th Jan

I unlocked / activated the BT tool directly from the app - no need to wait for a code it was instant when connected to WiFi from the fatty

Gap says iidtool can be left in as long as the car is running but not left in overnight. It will drain your battery too.

Greg,
Mine shows as 6speed also, so watching this post to see if I also need to do an update.
Otherwise, it is a brilliant little reader that I only wish I had more confidence when using it.

Thanks for the feedback guys.
I'll email GAP about the gearbox.

I had a low battery warning yesterday, then left the IIDTool plugged in overnight. So I trepidatiously went to the car this morning full expecting it to be dead. But it unlocked - then started - phew!

And I've unplugged the IIDTool.

Patrick from GAP emailed me today so they are checking their emails. But I didn't get my code yet, hope I won't have to wait until the 8th.

Greg Cheers, Greg

Bit of an update, Been a few weeks since my last, more excited post. I got it unlocked once GAP were back from hols...

Problem is, it seems to have lost half the menu functions. Before I did the unlock it had reasonable functionality and I could see all kinds of live values, but now very few.

Now I've got just:

Guys I’ll be looking to purchase a bt IIDTool soon but am trying to understand the costs.
The price or the tool is fine, then to flash the ecu costs?
If I want to remap I have to buy fast lane and buy a remap file, and then if I want to egr delete I have to buy that file too? If I want to calibrate the suspension there is a cost too?
I’m having trouble understanding fully what’s included and what the extra costs to do what I want will be
Anyone help?

The suspension calibration is certainly included in what the tool does I've done mine.
Fairly sure that an ecu remap and a egr delete are outside the scope of the iid tool and would cost you extra.

The manual is linked in the docs section of the GAP website - states clearly what’s included and not 4.2 SC - sold , now bought back
4.4 AdBlu Tractor - Stolen
