Drivers door won't open

Having a problem with my Range Rover (L322). When it gets cold the exterior drivers door handle would stick open due to it icing up. The door would open but when you tried to shut the door it would just bounce open. This happened last week so I locked the door from the inside and the door closed.
I now can't get the door open. I have tried opening it from the inside, the outside and they key seems to work okay locking and unlocking the door but the door won't open.
Has this happened to anyone else? I don't think the door panel will come of unless the door is open so i'm not sure how I can fix it?

I had this when we had all the snow, drivers door handle would pull open but door would not. Could open from the inside but not the outside. Assume the cable and lock had all frozen.

Thought I'd broken mine when I couldn't shut it once I'd managed to get it open, just bounced open like yours.

Once it had warmed up after a few days all worked ok again? L322 2002 4.4 V8 LPG

I was hoping it would just defrost as it has done before but I think something has stuck this time.

mechanism may have jammed, try pushing the cill lock button down hard from inside - it freed mine... may need a pointy stick as it will be flush with top of door card

Will it open from inside? Just to eliminate the cable to the outside handle?

I have a new cable to fit when I get some round tuits.

I also understand from recent threads here that the main culprit in cold weather is the mech jamming.. most likely due to de-icer slush freezing on it or just retained moisture and condensation. Cure is to rub a sheep around it as the lanolin repels moisture which is why sheep stay dry. If you don't have a sheep to hand then any suitable water repelant / lubricant of choice will be better than none. Thumbs Up 2010 Disco XS TDV6, 2009 Freelander 2 GS

Thanks, will try this in the morning. If I lock the door and pull the door handle inside, the cill button pops to unlock but the door does not open.

I had this a few weeks back when the weather was really cold. The mechanism had jammed and the door would not latch shut. I took the door card off and freed up the mechanism where the exterior handle cable attaches.

Now unfortunately I'm not sure why your door will not open when it is unlocked. The only way to access the locking mechanism is to remove the door card, which requires he door to be open.

Now you may (and I am not sure on this) be able to get the AA or RAC to get you into you car in the same manner as they would when you are locked out. I don't know how is would work but it is worth a try. 06MY 4.4 V8 Autobiography Cairns Blue with Navy & Parchment Interior

the only way to totally solve this problem is to remove the mechanism and grease and lubricate with silicon spray...you can try spraying via the door lock holes but this will not work properly..

btw, loads of discussions about this can be found via the search ..
