Garage saying can't jack RR with inactive EAS

Hi, my front>rear brake pipes have corroded and one has ruptured so the vehicle isn't safe to drive. I limped it to the local garage over the road who do my MOTs and were fair doing a brake repair on a pool car belonging to my employer.

They've stalled as they say they can't put it on their ramp as the air suspension is inactive and they can't raise it. Is this relevant to my '05 L322 TD6? They have the 4-beam spider-type ramps.

The air suspension fault is next on the list, if I reset it it works but very slowly, the car ride height is even.

TLDR; can the garage jack my car on a 4-beam spider-type ramp with inactive eAS? Thanks!

I would be interested to know the reason the garage give for not being able lift the car with the suspension inactive. It is normal practice to inhibit the suspension by opening one of the doors when jacking the car. Done it many times, Inhibiting the suspension gives the same effect as an inactive suspension.
It may however be the case the garage want to be to raise the car once lifted so as to give better access to replace sections of the brake pipes. Thumbs Up

This is tosh Shocked

If you blow a hole in an airbag you have inactive suspension. How the hell to you replace it if you cannot jack up the car?

I have jacked up (all four wheels) in all states of suspension "working/not working" and never seen a problem getting back to normal after work on the vehicle. .
Experience is the only genuine knowledge, but as time passes, I have forgotten more than I can remember Wink

No diplomacy needed fellas, thanks for the clarification! Unless I've missed something I'll tell them to stop messing about and get it up in the air!

Unlikely, but is it too low to get over a lip/ramp with the suspension fully settled at or below access mode? Mike - MPx

I can just about get my fist between the wheel and bottom of the wing, so I don't think it's in access or 'bump stop' mode?

If you then go back to collect your car and its on its guts, who then is to blame???

I can see their point of view, especially with this “where theres blame theres a claim” mentality now a days!

What compared to a normal car or sports car? Doubt it. Ed
