I thought along those lines the pressure pushes the seal tight

Leak

Pay attention to this hose. Due to the heat and the time it crack and the diesel passes through it near the injection pump.
It happen to me two weeks ago. The Origina part (WJP001080) is very expensive 132€ plus VAT. I replace it with a common fuel hose directly from the filter to the pump.

Mine cracks near the pump. The clamp is a BMW one and is very strange to remove it. It must be done with a plier. Probably LR have a special tool for.
I replace the clamp with a normal one.
The hose that I use is a normal one with a inner of 8mm for fuel which you find in a rubber shop or automotive shop.
and goes directly from the fuel filter to the pump.
If you want I can take a Picture for you
