Just wanting to find out if this is a design feature - after/ during rain, when I first open the boot, if I don't wait 15s with the boot at 45 degrees (to ensure that the water pours on the ground) then water empties from the nearly horizontal rear screen onto the rear parcel shelf. Does anyone else suffer from this feature ?

Yep, reckon it's a design fault. I do the same as you, open half way, wait for water to run off, then fully open it. I used to end up with water on the parcel shelf aswell (still do if I'm in a rush!!).

only done this once when i opened it very fast and got a puddle on the self, but if you open and lift normally letting the struts do the work then the water runs down the channels on each side.

I wonder if filling the gap with black silicon would cure it

I think it puddles on the panel underneath the spoiler at the top. I doubt you can do much to stop it as it probably goes in from the roof when driving..

mine does it also but if its collecting under the top spoiler panel could this be affecting the rear view camera i.e water logged inside or something onto no6 Range Rover

Hang on, are you saying the water drips from the inside of the glass as if it has collected at the base of the top tailgate when closed?

If so, then it might signal a problem with your rear washer motor, mine failed and started leaking water down the inside of the glass, which I then noticed when I opened the top tailgate and it would then drip into the rear of the car and on me! Discovery 4 HSE

Bit confused... The rear wiper motor has a washer line connected to it and passes the washer fluid through the hollow wiper shaft to a hose on the wiper arm. The seal on this failed for you and the water dripping on you was actually washer fluid?

Mine is def rain water. No washer fluid smell and it only happens after a rain. And the with amount that comes out on both sides (outside not inside, tho) my washer reservoir would be empty in no time.

I have been meaning to check where it comes from. Aside from being a PITA, I'm also worried it could be collecting in the hollow bottom portion of the tailgate. And I've read about corrosion at the bottom corners of the upper tailgate more than once...

The water is all outside of the glass ! It must be collecting somewhere in the high level brake light cover assembly and then coming out when the boot lid is lifted - two streams of water (not washer fluid) from each corner of the boot lid.

At least it's not just me experiencing the issue !
