Pre-Reg MY17 versus MY18

I was considering swapping my Sept 15 MY16 4.4 AB for a MY18 4.4 AB later this year. After 2.5 years my MY16 has nearly 50k miles on it and I want to swap while it retains a decent value.

Building on a couple of threads about being underwhelmed by the MY18 changes I've taken a look at the several pre-reg new MY17's that are being offered at c.£20k less than the same spec MY18. The difference to swap is £40k versus £60k for a MY18.

I'm very tempted to proceed with one of the last MY17's before they disappear. I think I prefer the look of the MY17 so where's the catch? MY23 D350 HSE

There isn't one - it's called depreciation on a premium car - go for it Thumbs Up
But then again is a MY16 to 17 worth £40k - I'd be tempted to hang on a little if the car is all good 2021 L405 Vogue SE 4.4 V8 DIESEL ~ #17

Why would the difference be £40K to swap a used MY16 with fifty thousand miles to a low miles 17 plate? I'd have thought you could do that much cheaper. 2016 SDV8 Autobiography

To answer a couple of questions.....

If I keep mine there will be significant expenditure over the next 6 months on service, brakes, tyres and a new warranty.

A new equivalent MY18 4.4 AB is c.£110k

A new pre-reg MY17 (2018 registered) 4.4 AB is c. £90-95k

A 65 plate MY16 4.4 AB with 50k miles trade value is c. £50k - there a couple listed for sale by LR at c. £55k MY23 D350 HSE

Thanks for that Phil,

There's a nice zero mile 67 plate one at £88K and I'm sure you'd get it changed for around £35K

It would be really rude not to!!

Referring to Basil’s spot at £88k

Thanks Basil

I’m wanting a particular colour scheme and spec, which is probably costing me the extra £4-5k over the one at £88k.

I just missed out on one yesterday but found another that I am hoping to complete on today. Pics to follow Smile MY23 D350 HSE

Thanks.

The wheels are described as duotone on the web site. They look gloss black in the photo.

I think we have similar wheels - and taste - then:

Although mine aren’t duotone and are on your FF’s older brother L322 Smile What do I put here then?
