Urgent help required - locked out!

Afternoon all. My wife and I are stuck 140 miles from home as the key fob won't unlock the car and nothing happens if I try and unlock manually. Red alarm light just cintinues to flash so am assuming the fob battery is the culprit?

Any suggestions welcome as minimum 2 hour wait for the RAC currently and it is blinkin' cold out here.. Big Cry

Sadly not on a Sunday near here. Was wondering if my hearing aid battery or the Fbh remote battery might fit...or at least work for long enough if held in place..but can't seem to get key open to see the battery.

I believe the 2007 has a non-replaceable, rechargeable battery in the key fob. Open the key from the side of the fob and open the door. I think the driver's door has the keyhole on the 2007. Alarm may go off which may be deactivated when you put the key in the ignition. I guess if the fob battery is knackered you might need a new fob from the dealer.

Apologies if my facts are wrong. I'm going from memory and thought you might need a quicker response.

Good luck Thumbs Up 2012 5.0L S/C

Just read the bit about nothing happening when you tried the manual opening. Sorry missed that first time. Door locks do sometimes not function. Another search on the site might be needed for that one. 2012 5.0L S/C

I seem to recall, once in the car with the metal key

In some you can offer the useless fob up under the steering wheel and somehow it will connect, even with a Censored battery

Is the light on the key working when you press the buttons?

The red alarm light will work down to around 8v... The key battery is unchangeable, soldered in internally and recharges through the ignition so, i would find a way of getting some power to the car for the CL to work sir...

No light on key Craig..it is a flip key? Useful to know battery charges off the car however!

Ok so just before RAC guy arrived I tried a suggestion from anotjer thread on here to put key to my head whilst stood right next to car..and she unlocked! RAC man thought there must be some interference from somewhere which makes sense...but looks like I will still need to sort manual lock since it doesn't work.

Thanks for all the helpful advice chaps..

Glad you got it sorted Thumbs Up

There is a simple rod on the lock that often gets knocked off when doing other jobs... An easy sort most of the time...

But a lesson to all... CHECK YOUR DOOR LOCK WORKS... Thumbs Up

Another thing I just remembered (a bit late Embarassed ) is that the fob works best near the rear side windows where the antenna is. 2012 5.0L S/C

I know this helps to extend the range of a remote key, but can anyone explain what is going on? I often use the head/key thing at a distance, I have no idea how or why it works though! 2010 FF 4.4 TDV8 Vogue - Gone
