good evening all.

not sure if is should introduce myself first somewhere on FFRR but im sure someone will point me in the right direction if i should

also not sure if this post is in the right section but hope it is.

I bought my RR about 2 months ago now and have inherited to say "a few" problems would probably be an understatement but willing to invest some time and money including a new gearbox which I recently have been told she needs bye bye a few thousand pounds!!

one issue i really need to solve ASAP is the water ingress which is making the following areas absolutely saturated...

headlining just above the windscreen all the way along[/b]
both A pillars top to bottom
both drivers and passengers footwell

I have made several searches on water ingress and they all seem to point to sunroof drains but I have taped over the sunroof using Gaffa tape making a seal from the roof to the glass so no water "should" be getting in and yet when it rained and snowed the other day water still seems to be coming in, in rather a large volume

when I went out tonight after the car had sat for a few days the water was dripping on to my right foot whilst driving

any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, i just really want to stop the water, even with a temporary measure until the summer time when i can thoroughly investigate the problem.

Would start by trying to unblock the sunroof drains info on here on how to approach the job.
Does it have the original glass? Will say Land Rover on it. If not has it had a recent replacement? Has it been fitted correctly? Those are pretty much your choices for water in the location you are on about. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

If you’ve ruled out the sunroof drains, an incorrectly fitted windscreen is the obvious culprit

- certainly for your higher leaks.

A respected Indy told me 9/10 leaks like this are windscreen related.

L322 Range Rover: water in cabin
In August 2008, Land Rover issued technical bulletin LTB00168 for L322 Range Rover vehicles with serial numbers from 100003 onwards. In these vehicles, water ingress may occur:
Through the headliner in the proximity of the driver’s or the front passenger’s head, possibly dripping onto the top of the instrument panel;
Behind the A-pillar trim, through the fascia and, potentially, into the front footwell. By removing the fascia end closing panel, water ingress could be identified by rust coloured marks on the instrument panel reinforcement;
Through the headliner around the rear of the roof opening panel; and,
Into the rear footwell (driver or passenger’s side).
The water ingress was attributable to:
A poorly routed, blocked, kinked or twisted front roof opening panel drain tube; or,
If water ingress was only visible in the footwell area, around the sill finisher and along the bottom of the door casing, the likely cause was a badly fitted front door water shedder.

The other thing it could be is the mastic has gone brittle in the roof rack channel at above the windscreen, mine had a slight leak, took a while to find it but after silicon the gap the foot well is dry as a bone and after the amount of rain we have had its a tried and tested result. If it dont work.......burn it!

If the IId tool cant fix it.......burn the FF.

If the FF cant be fixed......buy a Land Cruiser!

If the LC cant be fixed..............................................BUY a horse !!

Thanks for the above...it was exactly that. i removed both roof rack sliders each side and found tons of old mastic and an area where the water was leaking in to the cabin. i re-masticed that area and hey presto (fingers crossed) it hasn't leaked.

but as a typical FFRR owner i now move on to the next issue FBH lol

so, just to Update...."hey presto" it didnt work.

I had the windscreen replaced and behind the window had corroded all along the top allowing the water ingress so extremely happy that i found the problem, however in the process now created another problem........

After the windscreen was replaced the heater buttons for both Front and rear windows now dont work...any thoughts please!
