Newbie and MPG per Tank

Hi,

I have owned my TDV8 3.6 Vogue since early December and love it , coming from and X5 I knew there would be a difference in MPG however I am not sure if I have a problem somewhere.

When the tank is full the MPG to empty is around the 290 mark, I brimmed it yesterday it was showing 283 to empty, I drove about 12 miles and filled the tank up again this morning (took about £6) and now showing 280 to empty.

Prior to filling yesterday the dial was showing half and the trip was 113 miles for half a tank. The last few weeks has mostly been short city driving and giving it the odd blast which doesn't appear to make any difference.

I have had 30 on the motorway but mostly between 15-21 with normal driving.

Does this appear to be normal miles per tank? How many miles do you get to a tank when resetting at the filling station?

Thanks

Mine is usually about 436 miles to empty when 100% full.

I assume it's based on mpg history as it was only about 400 when I first got it.

the computer works this out on previous driving history, for instance if you drive at 40mph for 200 miles and then fill up you'd get a bigger tank range .. ... - .- -.

Mine will return 34mpg on a run down to London, but I don't even bother looking at what it does around town.

I will say I drive her very gently, and always fill up with Shell or BP diesel. On a run I set CC at 60 and then just glide wherever I'm going to. RPM stays around 1,500 and I get the best she can for MPG.

I just set the trip every fill and get to know what to expect from actual miles.

No idea what that means but it's definitely an impressive stat.
