P38 off roading

i'm looking at buying a P38 for off roading with so i don't scratch my L322 Smile

looking at a 4.0l 2001 as they seem at a very good price now but has anyone done a lift on these and what is involved? would put on a set of larger off road tyres on 16" rims and would want to lift it by about 2/3" on coils as thats the most cost effective way?

anybody got any experience? 2009(10MY) 3.6 TDV8 Vogue

Have a look on AULRO.com, there is a very long thread about lifting P38`s. It involves fitting blocks under air springs and extending the hight sensor arms. All bits can be purchased I believe. I have done some serious offroad trips in P38`s here in oz in a stock standard 4.6Thor, they are extremely capable in the rough stuff. Only mods were running 265 70 16 tyres, beyond that size, you will get big rubbing issues, and uprated shocks. 2007 TDV8 VSE

It’s got air suspension. So why lift it? They’re very capable in stock form.

I sort of agree and when I had my P38`s I found no reason to modify apart from a rear locker and 265 70 16 tyres. Lifting the suspension gives room for larger rubber= more clearance under the diffs . Also lifting gives greater wading depth.
Cam Tech Craig, every Range Rover I have ever owned has been used off road regularly without concern. 2007 TDV8 VSE

Would you not consider a Doscovery 2.

Very capable and parts are much easier to source.

This is my off-roader.

I’m too precious about my 322 to risk a scratch off roading too much I still get it muddy every now and then though!

I have decided a disco 2 is the better move been to look at a couple now but both have had major issues, have my eye on a couple of others so going to check those out soon. 2009(10MY) 3.6 TDV8 Vogue
