If its just normal lights with a normal changing period, then yes, its likely to be OK. As already said, lots of people will do effectively the same thing by sitting on the brake pedal at standstill when at lights. If its longer periods like road work lights where you may be waiting minutes, then I take it out of drive and put it in neutral.

I think the handbook says that one should not sit with the car in drive and the brake on for extended periods, you might like to check. I always put it into neutral and the handbrake on, finding that it is not much effort, also in the dark one does not dazzle the driver behind with the brake lights that way. Only Range Rovers since 1988 |
