...just changed mine yesterday with previous agreement for an original one with the insurance company. Two weeks ago the first attempt aborted by the "glassGuy"[MotorGlass] because the spare part arrived was wrong. Yesterday, once again, the guy called me back saying that, despite the Pilkington-LR P/N was correct, the replacement was missing the "wipers warming area" which was present on my original, but he said that LR assured that the feature has been discontinued. They're also going to get a writing from LR about this matter.
I've also compared the marks on both windscreens and are exactly the same..., ...but it's always bad loosing a feature..., ...any experience/comment?

Thanks a lot in advance. 2016 RR ATB (Kaikoura Stone w/Brogue/Ivory-Brogue)

Might sound like an odd question - but is the wiper warming area connected ?

When mine was replaced, there were 2 sets of identical connectors on the windscreen - and only 1 on the car - the guy connected them wrong, so I only had a warm wiper area - he then had to come back out & cswap so that the whole windscreen was heated.

So, I think I have a hearted wiper area that isn't actually used or needed as the entire windscreen is warmed......

... good question. The guy told me that the connector for the heated windscreen is identical to the previous, but the separate one for the wipers rest area is totally missing on the new one.
I've to call him and ask if, at least, the warming "pattern" is there.
I'll post here the answer. 2016 RR ATB (Kaikoura Stone w/Brogue/Ivory-Brogue)

You can check your car - or he can - the connections are in the bottom side corners - so you need to remove the trim from the pillar next to the windscreen - there's an Air Bag plastic sign that flips out and there's a screw behind it - then the pillar cover just lifts out.

My Screen took Five attempts to the get the right screen and a Genuine JLR one, got there in the end never heard of bits being discontinued of the screen, i know the later ones are slightly different with regards to connections for heating elements, dont forget various sensors need re calibrating, so make sure thats done properly
Thumbs Up

Ours was fitted perfectly well (a pleasant surprise).

The only thing they did 'wrong' was to stand on the front door aluminium tread plates with their tackety boots as they were doing the job... and they scratched them quite badly. Didn't complain, just sent them off to be refurb'd!

So if you're having a new screen and you're fussy about your tread plates, cover them up!

Thumbs Up
