STA wont do a rebuild and not fit Sonex valves, they insist on it! Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!

Spoke to both today. Both coming out at same price! Both 72 mile from my house! Haha. I’m hopeing driving sensible in sport mode I can get it there. (Although the guy in Sussex can recover it)
Have got 1 more to speak to tomorow who’s fairly local who a mechanic friend recommended.

Comes out around £2300 all in. Looks like the credit cards gonna get a smashing the wrong side of Christmas 😔 Accept, some days your the pigeon, some days your the statue!

Be very careful, there are only a handful of gearbox specialists that can deal with the GM 5L40E, it's a bit of an odd ball box and needs special tools to set it up correctly...

And the last time my ffrr fubar'd itself I was able to get the RAC to deliver it... even though it drove, I told them that the Garage had recommended it be recovered due to imminent failure... Which when they found out it was a ffrr they were quite happy to do, also I was able to send it unattended, so it saved me the headache of getting home!! Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Laughing I thought the exact opposite..... the name of his company is 5hp24 - which is the code for the 5 speed GM box....

The ZF 5HP24 is in the V8 Petrol up to 2005
The GM 5L40-E is made under license by Cadbury’s and is in the TD6

Thanks guys!

Looks like im gonna go with STA in Aylesbury.
Think i'll have to book it in for after Christmas now as cant get the time off to get it to them. Kinda planning on a nice steady 50MPH ride around the M25 one morning in Sport Mode! Keeping my fingers crossed all the way!

Will let you know how I get on..

Thanks so much Accept, some days your the pigeon, some days your the statue!
