It doesn't rain......

Driving along at 50kph just leaving town this morning with the missus when bang! - thats strange me thinks. I pull over and the right rear tyre is busted - side wall ripped through and a chunk out of the alloy. Censored Censored Censored

So I empty the boot into the rear of the car, take out the spare and then I notice that it is all worn on the inside. Still it will have to do. Get the spare on, drive to tyre place they notice that I have a bulge in the front left tyre..... Shocked

So I have a busted alloy and need 3 new tyres. Big Cry Big Cry Big Cry

Oh and to round it all off once I took the spare out I noticed some standing water in the wheel well, is this normal or something else to worry about?

Been quoted €225 each for Goodyear 255/55R19's and €95 to get the alloy fixed......

definitely poured for you Wink ...

did you use the crap scissor jack to fit the spare or something a bit heftier..

if there's water in the well then it could be cause for concern, i'd check the electrics in the back to make sure nothing is damp then clean the water out and see if there's a trail of water running in from somewhere..

yes crap scissor jack, rain, side of main road - perfect really.

I'm going to dry out the wheel well now and see if I can figure out the cause .....

I do plan on getting 4 new ones and there was only 12,000 kms on the tyre that is wrecked.....

Water in the spare wheel well usually means one of two things , if the water is clear (ish) then it may be a blocked drain and water is getting in if it is brown or rusty looking you EAS compresor is on it's way out . 2008 MY Supercharged

I'm happy with the 18 inch rims on my '03 so picked up a set with near new tyres for less than the cost of 1 tyre on fleabay. Thumbs Up

Worth checking Fleebay for the rim at least. Single wheels tend to go much cheaper than sets / no of wheels if you see what I mean.... not many want to buy one.

What rims have you got... worrying that a chunck should just depart Shocked 2010 Disco XS TDV6, 2009 Freelander 2 GS

I've the standard 06 Vogue 7 spokes - tried to upload a pic but get DB error. The item that caused the damage cut the sidewall and took a lump out of the alloy about an inch across. I'm looking at a few options for replacement wheels and tyres at present. Seen some nice OVerfinch 22's............

Think about it you just lost two Tyres and an Alloy on 19" rims due to pot holes and you want 22"? 2008 MY Supercharged
