Cruise control ‘jerking’

First long trip today in my FF. adaptive cruise control, so lots of slowing down and speeding up as I drove down the M1, but I noticed after the road cleared ahead and the car sped up to the selected cruise speed, it would occasionally get to that speed and then do a double jerk, almost as if it was changing into 8th, back to 7th and back up to 8th, or was it accelerating past the speed, slowing down and speeding up again. Non cruise accelerate hard, get to whatever speed and let off the throttle and hold the speed manually there were no issues

Any thoughts?

Might be in need of software upgrade Stuart.

About £50 if you are paying a main dealer to do it.

My 2007 FF did exactly that. hunting between the gears. It was fixed by resetting the tyre rolling diameter in the Nav. Might be worth a try. Graham

Which years come with adaptive cruise?

I have it on my new Golf (company car) and it's a really handy feature.

If you have an IIDtool, could you extract your ecm's current s/w level please? Mine has a slight hesitation on CC at 110 kph so I'd like to know if mine's ecm is at your level. However as there are 2 later updates than mine I suspect that mine needs updating.

Thanks Nino. However I hadn't considered different markets, especially with and without a DPF fitted, so perhaps a futile comparison.

Would love the adaptive cruise on mine. Had it on a Golf, and it was blindingly good!

Had my '12 4.4 TDV8 for about six months now and I've noticed this last two days that when engaging cruise control right after setting off after startup the car surges as if it can't maintain the desired speed. I've noticed it when setting CC to 30kph and 50kph (haven't been able to test other speeds as I'm always starting out in built up areas).

However, it does this between 5 and 10 times and then the surges stop and the car runs at the set cruise speed normally. It doesn't sound like it's changing gear, just that the car seems to allow the revs to drop a bit then accelerates again to regain cruise speed. We are having quite cold weather here at the moment, 0 degrees or just below. Could it be related to a cold engine? I haven't experienced this problem since I bought the car last June, just yesterday and again today.

Does it sound like the symptoms described by LTB00054v2 or rather a different issue? 2012 Vogue 4.4 TDV8 automatic (LHD), Santorini Black
