Just stumbled on this post from a couple of years ago, am planning to do my diffs and transfer box oil this week.

Emirates for the transfer box you say wet or dry fill is 1.5 litres? But i looked on a workshop manual online and it says dry fill, 1 litre?
Will i need more, as I bought only 1 litre to do the job?

You have the earlier New Venture Gear NV225 transfer box (1 litre capacity) which was used with the 5-speed transmissions, not the later Magna Steyr DD295 unit (1.5 litre capacity) which was used with the 6 & 8-speed transmissions.

Go by the manual, the posting above is for a 2006/7 onwards model L322 (2006+ Petrol/2007+ Diesel) which have a different transfer box (Magna Steyr DD295) for the 6 speed transmissions compared to the transfer box (New Venture NV225) fitted to the earlier 5 speed transmissions.

The earlier 5 speed models have a Torsen diff inside the NV225 box and the required oil for it is Castrol BOT26FMB1 and takes 0.996 litres.

You need to use the correct oil and don't substitute the later oil as the later DD295 box uses a completely different conventional plated diff design and hence a different oil is required.

Likewise for the front and rear diffs, go by the manual for your vehicle as there are different types of diff out there (e.g. some Supercharged models got an electronic locking rear diff). If yours is an early TD6 then it'll have open front and rear diffs.

I got 1 litre of Castrol BOT 26 FMB 1 STC4861 Fully Synthetic Transfer Case Oil from somewhere and its got LR RR labelling on it

cheers mate, new washer on both drain and fill plugs, for all 3? (front and rear diffs, and transfer box)?
