I'm no expert but suspect that a system reset is required following the battery removal, if the battery is completely flat/disconnected it will prevent starting, even if the battery has been recharged/replaced with a sound one. When my 2004 car battery failed the (non-LR Assist) recovery technician was advised by LRA to short the battery connectors together (this was in a remote field so no chance of using diagnostic machine etc). If you can get confirmation from a LR dealer or LR Assist or someone on here who knows more than me that this is the thing to do it might solve the problem.

No battery reset is required on a 2004 if you either disconnect the battery or indeed replace it.

Tbh I'm really not sure why the locks where changed it s just been left to insurance company and they where done by there instructions wouldn't just getting keys redone mean the car could be stolen with the old key that was taken in burglary ? |

Potentially yes, however the keys are individually paired to the EWS3D immobiliser, info below from Black Box Solutions, so the stolen keys can be turned off and the new keys turned on but that wouldn't stop them getting into the door and think it would probably still turn off the alarm.

thank you very much for that I will take a copy and forward to insurance company I don't understand if the locks etc needed reprogramming and needed to go to land rover why they don't get the whole job done by them. Cheers thank you for all your advise and help |

No bother, when i lost my only key, two programmers tried and failed to get it started but the first guy did get the key cut and and opened the door but the alarm would permanently sound. he did send off the immobiliser to be paired with the key but being a 2006 it had a later immobiliser unit that is controlled via the high speed can i believe whereas the 2002-2005 uses the EWS3D which is why I think it is dealer only and there was a wiring fault as well which may have not helped.

when the 06 TD6 i have been working on had the transponder problem where the key wasn't matched, the key wouldn't turn in the ignition and it wouldn't crank either when it was immobilised after i did the fuse removal procedure to override the transponder and steering lock but that is not to say other forces weren't at play as i had tried to work around the transponder.
