Well joy of joys - It's alive Rolling with laughter

Time for a much needed update, I couldn't do much with my Faultmate and two key specialists couldn't do anything so it was time to bite the bullet and take it to the main dealer and I'm happy to name them as Guy Salmon at Aylesford.

I admit I was nervous as we have all heard horror stories of main dealers but I couldn't be happier and this is the third time I have used them and every time they have only charged me for the minimum amount of labour.

The long story short is whoever attempted to program the key the first time had stripped out the centre console and had somehow swapped some wires around on the ignition switch. The technician at Guy Salmon found the fault and then programmed the new genuine key and also the non alarm fob key that the original person supplied and although he spent quite a few hours on it they only charged me for one hours labour when they could quite easily have said I needed a new key or ignition or immobiliser or anything so credit where credits due they did a cracking job.

I was even emailed a link to the technician demonstrating the car started and the alarm working.

Now on to sorting out all the other faults .... Thumbs Up

At least you are not paying but i tried everything to avoid going to the dealer when we should have just taken it straight there but you live and learn.
our total bill has been

£250 for the first guy to cut a key and not program it
£150 new genuine key
£20 for the second programmer to not program the genuine key
£180 for recovery both ways as vehicle is on SORN and no MOT
£162 labour at the dealer
£150 for faultmate CAN lead, although we still need this
£100 to transfer faultmate license to and from my vehicle to this one which we still need anyway as plenty of other faults to deal with.

I searched all over the net and couldn't find anyone that had the later immobiliser and had programmed a key without an existing working one without going to a main dealer

Expensive hobby losing your only key ....

I'm sorry to hear that.
I think we are gradually turning into a lawless society as punishment doesn't fit the crime, i imagine there are few things worse than having your own home violated by some scum bag other than personal attacks.

I live out in the sticks a bit and there are kids on illegal motorbikes just riding around the streets as we have zero policing, vandalising our sports facilities, we have lorry loads of rubbish just dumped in the lanes and nature reserve blocking the roads. We have had landrovers stolen and vans broken into right in front of CCTV cameras and they don't seem to care.

it will end up being the local residents putting up full coverage cctv and employing 'Security Guards' to deal wit the little blighters, backed up by drones preferably with machine guns attached !!

i hope you get sorted soon

I have cctv front and back which i can view on my phone so if i do hear a noise i can check on there and two dogs which bark at the slightest noise
I just don't think the police have the resource to do much more than give you a crime number

very true but its taken nearly 3 weeks to get crime ref no ! and after 8 calls to the officer in charge he was on holiday at lunch not in office he will call you back I understand that they are busy but I did a bit of investigating myself the scumbags used my cards 4 times I went to the shops involved explained to owners I have the cctv from the shops with the 2 guys on but do yiou think the police are intrested ? NO its a easy nick for them tbh if they stopped eating do nuts and did something about it ! The banks have been great and refunded money staraight away and I got a sorry letter that the payments shouldn't have gone though because I called and cancelled cards straight away . It seems that the police are either too busy to make a simple arrest as I have the cctv so bag to rights and the insurance companys try all they can not to pay out but when I quoted the policy to Lloyds compliants was sorted but tbh ive done all the ground work for both the police and insurance company and I bet the Censored all get pay increases at the end of year I wish that it would be so easy to increase my prices as a company owner and give everyone including myself a pay increase but sadly it isn't !Update solicitor has made a compliant to police compliants authority as he feels they haven't handled the case at all correctly just had a call to say they are sending soco around to finger print house bit bloody late now ! replaced the broken window frame the day the Censored broke in !

I have to say that sounds like they have reached a new level of don't give a Censored !

I bet if you saw the thieving Censored in the street and called them a nasty name you would be banged up for a year!

The world is on it's head i'm afraid, you are probably paying through your taxes for the thieving little Censored to stay at home and work out ways of nicking more of your Censored Evil or Very Mad

Good to hear about your key success, I can now add keys to later land rover
S LR3 keys cut and coded but you do need a working key first
