Do you have towbar electrics? You can plug a charger into the white socket if you get a plug.

Some say you can send enough charge down one of the side repeaters on the front wing to wake things up.

Remove wheel, remove inner wheelarch, open the bonnet from inside the engine compartment, access the battery.

AA/RAC can break in, some use airbags others have their own ways in through the tailgate. .
Experience is the only genuine knowledge, but as time passes, I have forgotten more than I can remember Wink

I have used in the past the number plate light fittings to power an X5 enough to work the central locking

I had the same problem, hooked up my -ve jump lead to earth under the FF, then pulled out the driver's side repeater, cut back the wire sheath and attached the +ve to that, it did melt the wire back to the loom but it got the door open

(I later discovered a wire tucked under the bumper attached to the +ve terminal - the previous owner must of had the same problem)

I've read about jacking up the front and connecting a battery to the starter motor main positive and to ground somewhere exposed on the chassis but never tried it or looked at how accessible it is.
I would use some small crocodile clips and then just touch on the battery terminals and try your remote.

Not a lot of help now but it surprises me that as this is a well-known issue, 15mins of effort can give a quick and easy point to attach a battery charger. One of the first things I did to mine was run a fused cable from the battery to a female plug behind the grill. If needed I have a ready made lead to plug in.

Like the idea Wayne but aren’t those connectors a bit small for the draw, or are you thinking just to attach a battery charger?

The ideal thing would be to do what the AA/RAC do with some good thick cable from the battery to an Anderson connector somewhere accessible around the front bumper, then you can make up a 5/10m lead to plug in with some crocodile clips, even cut up a set of jump leads and put another Anderson connector on, then you can use it to jump off another vehicle Smile

This would be for connecting a battery charger or a solar panel to charge the battery in an emergency, not to jump start the car obviously. Cheap insurance. 2007 TDV8 VSE
