You could see evidence of mine leaking in the past as there was red crystaline coolant deposits (wrong coolant for this engine, it is now blue) but all the time I've owned the car it only used a tiny amount of coolant and since the rebuild luckily it doesn't use any

Response from Permatex has been quick. Apparently old instructions, even those on the website, weren't correct. Also if the Ultra Gray is old it won't cure correctly. So for those reading the most recent instructions are as follows : Those directions are old – meaning the product is old and may not cure. Return that product and have the retailer give you a new one.

"Apply the bead of silicone circling every bolt hole.

Assemble parts while silicone is still wet with bolts only finger tight.

Allow to cure for 1 hour only

Come back and torque bolts to spec.

Allow to cure for 24 hours

Install fluids and start car."
When it is time I'll give this a try. Someone needs to give it a shot.

Go for it, it's not the worst job getting back in there, I was mainly worried about the vanos and guides rebuild so i just didn't want another thing to worry about
