Heated steering wheel no longer works.....

Hi All,

I use and love my heated steering wheel as use all the time, come to use it today and nothing.. When i click the button on the steering wheel no RED LED light.. just click and nothing happens..

So i checked the fuse which looked fine and then replaced to make sure but still nothing..

Come across some posts online but most say the light is red and no heat.. with mine its seems like no power as theres no led light on and no heating..

Anyone got some advice on what to check next, Is the ECU inside the steering wheel for the heat control ?

thanks for any advice of help in advance.. 2003 Range Rover 4.4 Litre V8 - Adriatic blue

I think there is also a relay in the circuit so, if that's at fault, changing the fuse wouldn't have helped. I'm afraid I can't give you any clue as to location but would expect it to be somewhere near the fuse.

I'm sure someone will be able to point you to the location. 2017 4.4 SDV8 Autobiography

found out how to get to the heated steering wheel relay !

as i dont get an led light it must be the relay.. if not next step will be checking the steering wheel ECU.

Quote:
Passenger Compartment Fusebox
The passenger compartment fusebox contains blade type fuses, maxi fuses and fusible links. The fusebox is located
at the rear of the glovebox. A removable panel in the rear of the glovebox allows access to the blade type fuses and
the maxi fuses. Access to the fusible links and relays, which are also located on the fusebox, requires the removal of
the glovebox assembly.

I await developments eagerly as my FFRR came with the glovebox cover in the boot, with both plastic(?) attachment lugs broken off.

I tried all this with mine and it was the heating element within the wheel that had failed

Amongst the screws that have to come out are three (IIRC) which are along the metal bar right underneath. Make sure you get them all out as if not you can end up with broken hinges as per Billaboard above. Crying or Very sad John

alistairh,

with yours did the LED work on the steering wheel though ? as all posts relating to heating element in steering wheel are to do with the LED turning on and then turning off..

Mine just has no light on heating switch at all. which why i have been chasing this fuse/relay. 2003 Range Rover 4.4 Litre V8 - Adriatic blue

Not sure how easy this would be, but can you find the power feed to the steering wheel and check there is a voltage there before you strip out the glovebox? 2017 4.4 SDV8 Autobiography

rob99,

That's a good point, yes its alot easyer to remove steering wheel cover and test for voltage first so will have to do this before diving into the glovebox 2003 Range Rover 4.4 Litre V8 - Adriatic blue

Update did some reading and seems the steering wheel won’t turn on if battery voltage is lower then expected when car is started.. as car does a lot short journeys I stuck it on charger for couple days when I went away. Come home started up and amazingly the steering wheel worked fine.

And has been working fine since..

So maybe my battery was lower on voltage then expected or battery on its way out.. as alternator is chargeing fine as checked that.

Fingers crossed stays working 2003 Range Rover 4.4 Litre V8 - Adriatic blue

Fuse # in glove box

Hello,

So my heated steering isn’t working. One day the red Led light came in for a split second and went out. Hasn’t worked since. Now the light doesn’t turn on at all. I changed the module inside the steering wheel too. I’m hoping it’s the fuse and not the relay. Can someone tell me which fuse it is in the glovebox fuse box? Much appreciated.
