Hello Folks, I have recently purchased a 2007 TDV8 3.6 Vogue. I love it, First RR. Never owned anything with such comfort. In a moment of bursting confidence I went for it. It was well maintained by previous owners. Drove perfectly on test runs. Three weeks later front left shock has a leak! Replaced it. These things happen, move on. Now seems to have a slow coolant leak. Enthusiasm slowly leaving me. I'm hoping it's a leaky hose.

It has done 160,00 miles. Turbos were never replaced. Suspension never replaced. Seems to have been a reliable car up until now.

No smoke, no rattles, great power through the revs. All electric work. Looks brand new.

But the cloud of doubt hangs over me. Reading other posts regarding turbo problems and the like has me concerned.

Is there any other owners out there who enjoyed high mileage motors without issue? Online forums tend to have all the horror stories but I'm looking for High mileage happy stories.

Hi, some recent threads on here about slow coolant leaks. Check all the coolant hoses and clips for leaks, there is a small hose off the bottom of the expansion tank. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Mine is an earlier model than yours but try the search function on here or have a google, having a quick look, thermostat housings seems to crop up.
You could try a pressure test or a sniff test if you are worried about head gasket although neither are 100 % conclusive.
Ultraviolet dye is another option.
You have got to accept that these cars are extremely complicated and 160,000 miles is a long way but stick around and I'm sure plenty of people will be able to help you out.

Congrats. Mine is a similar mileage and vintage. They are getting very affordable.a beautiful vehicle, but a little subject to aging. Here are some suggestions to help.

- front airbag suspension failure risk increases from about 10 years of age - so no surprise there, and consider replacing the other.
- consider a trans fluid flush and refill, check transfer box fluid.
- alternators seem to fail anytime after 100,000km intervals.
- fuel tank sender prone to failure around this age.
- clean MAPs, very easy job, do a search.
- keep an eye on top turbo hoses.
- consider a dose or three of induction cleaner. ______________________________

Mt 56 plate TDV8 has now done 127k..113k when I bought it... changed the thermostat housing and pipes..one or the other had started to leak, had all the brake pipes replaced after one popped and had the rear shocks replaced as they had started to leak. All age related stuff really.

I got all the trans / diffs oil changed and filter replaced for peace of mind and the front Brembo calipers..one was leaking and the other had been bodged, so new ones went in.

None of this is cheap...but hopefully it will set me up for many more years motoring...now I just need the car back after some twonk with a trailer reversed into the front of me whilst I was stationary... a bill of about £4k apparently!

think you have to accept that cars , even well maintained ones will have thing in need of repair , it could have FSH but no one is going to replace a suspension bag if theres nothing wrong with it eh ?

I have a 2007 on nearly 150k I have put 90 of them on it had it 4 years It has never let me down but I have over the years replaced front suspension both sides and upgraded pump at same time replaced the coolant expansion tank and cap as they do fail replaced the alternator all pulleys and water pump all bushes and front arms and track rod ends battery every two years = all as preventative maintenance service regularly changed gearbox oil every 30 to 40k and it runs like a dream and as I said it has never let me down
For example a lot of bits seem to peg out at 100k or 10 yrs - suspension - alternator - cooling system
Just keep on top of them and you will be fine - not sure about the turbos or if there is any preventative maintenance that you can do
