So, I've just got my '09 FFRR TDV8 Vogue, and I was considering popping back into the dealer for the official iPod integration upgrade. But I was wondering if anyone else has come up with alternatives to this? One idea I had, triggered by the fact that I had a hard-disk-drive based system called Phatnoise in my Touareg ... ok, shoot me down if I'm crazy - was an Apple Mac Mini in place of the CD changer. That could run iTunes with all the music stored on the hard disk drive and the audio out could go into the RR head unit. But is there any way of making the RR screen display video from external sources? This can be done with my old Touareg, but I know nothing of the way the system in the RR is designed.

Any other crazy ideas out there? Or should I just bite the bullet and get Williams to iPod me?

p.s. does the official upgrade work well with iPhone 3Gs or do I need a traditional iPod?

AFAIK the LR ACM is the only way to go at the moment. There is quite a bit on the pre 05 ipod integration in the forum. Not so terribly much on the 05 and later because there isn't much avail...
