Drivers door release mechanism

So having arrived at out holiday destination, the door release mechanism in the drivers door went pop and the handle just flops about doing nothing. The external handle works fine and still opens the door.

I'm guessing if I took the door card off I could either re fit a wayward linkage or replace a broken component if necessary.

Any advice on removing the door card or any other aspect of this problem would, as always, be gratefully received Very Happy

Thanks

Andy

Thanks Stan.
I suspect the wifi system here at the park in Wales restricts access to certain sites and youtube seems to be one of them. I'm too tight to pay for the upgraded wifi so am probably restricted to low data levels.
I'm home tomorrow so will check it then.
Thanks
Andy

Thank's for the video links Rangeyman, most helpful. The second video shows how to replace the cable to the outer handle but I'm dealing with the inner handle cable.

I've taken the door card off with the help of Rangeyman's video and I found the plastic fitting has come off the end of the cable where it attaches to the inside door handle. It looks as though there should be a ferrule of some type on the end of the cable?

I've tried to add a photo showing this, but I keep getting an error message saying it couldn't retrieve the album data. Not sure what I'm doing wrong as I managed to upload a photo in another thread.

With the use of a small mirror I can see where the cable attaches to the lock mechanism, but I can't figure out how to release the cable. Any advice please would as always be gratefully received Very Happy

Thanks
Andy

Hello Andy.

I have the same issue with the interior drivers door handle. Know it was a while ago now but did you find a solution?

Found this clip which shows a black housing that perhaps has come loose (see 2mins 45seconds)

Thanks, Kit
