Didn’t take long to have my first issue.

Went to open the drivers door after a journey and the handle no longer seems to be attached to the cable / door opening mechanism - so it is totally loose and attached to nothing it seems. It opens fine from the outside. Had to jump over to the passenger seat to get out.

Guess the door card has to come off etc? Common fault?

LR build quality not living up to the German stuff I’m used too so far…

Has the door card be off before that you know of?

I've had that happen once after i had re-assembled the door from re-painting.

I think you will find most of the parts within that door have BMW written on them...!!!! It was certainly designed whilst in their ownership and they did raid the parts bin a lot....

Range Rovers make you want them by needing constant attention, it's why we love them....

Ahh yes, I forgot this Range Rover is a mix of Munich, Essex and the West Midlands - obviously blaming the wrong area in this case.

I have had the car less than a week and love it, just not enough to be stuck in it. Imagine the door card has been off in the last 13 years, probably at a dealer as the car never went anywhere else it seems. Hoping the cable housing has simply slipped off.

Guessing I can take off the 4 or so bolts holding the door card on and remarry the two parts without having to undo all the electric cables? That is my first port of call unless I am told otherwise.

Any tips and tricks welcome but have watched a few YouTube clips.

The door cards are easy to get off - it's very common for the low range speaker to begin rattling so, I've done a fair few.

Remove all the screws then use a plastic trim tool to remove the panel clips - start with the bottom outward corner. You might need a long flat blade screwdriver with a cloth around it.

Pop off the door card clips but DON'T start pulling the door car off - ONLY undo the clips around the edges.

For your job, this will give you ample room to bend the door card out a bit and you'll have enough room to reach in and re-attach the door pull.

Taking the whole door card off is easy but it can be a to get it to fit back into the clips in the window sill so, save yourself some hassle here. The door handle just hooks onto a little plastic pull. Once done, pop the door card back on with your fists as gentle hammers. Will take you 5-10 mins.

The plastic bit is shaped like this (below). You can see the groove into which the handle fits. When fitting the clip back on, pull the interior door handle about 80% of the way then slide the clip the whole way on. Guide it as you release the interior door handle so that it remains secured. It then clicks into place. You may find someone has snapped it.

Thanks, very helpful. So I am clear. Are you saying don’t bother taking the door card away from the top seam and just doing it from the bottom up with three sides loose? I very much hope someone has not broken it in the past as it will just happen again I imagine.
