Mine makes a repetitive knocking from the offside front shock area and has done for the last 30,000 miles. Nothing visually wrong and goes through a service and MOT without issues.

My personal experience is that the ball joints wear out, and when they do, they clunk when the wheels hit bumps. It doesn't affect the steering though ... just makes a clunking noise.

Usual culprit to check is the front ARB drop links. Easy to replace. |

Drop links are the usual suspect but they are good on mine. It has rattle from the o/s/f wheel whenever it hits any sort of bump, can even feel it with cats eyes.

If thats a gravel type road with lots of little bumps on it, then ball joints imho based on those sounds.
I've tried that too. Couldn't find anything at all. Took the arms and ball joints off, and when in hand the ball joint had about 2mm vertical play in it. The suspension seems to be pre-loaded with force that makes it hard to use a lever to find play. Similarly, when jacked up with the wheel hanging, the arms are at such an angle that they prevent play appearing in the ball joint. V8 or else ... |

Yup, mine makes a louder version of that noise. Has done for the last 30,000 miles and nothing has fallen off.

Two different mechanics said this noise is due to steering box.
