i think the way to go on this is to look for an android car navigation box that will run igo software and connect to the head unit ..
i've been googling but i havnt found any thing suitable.. ... - .- -.

as I said I think if you can get the correct wire the nav system will look for the software on attached storage, so if the appropriate file could be found and a portable HD with the correct non standard fire wire connector cable could be sourced then I'm thinking that the file could be uploaded.

thats a lot of ifs and buts though....... There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

once you do have communication with the hard drive, what do you load up, where do get the latest maps...

i know the dvd based navs can be updated with 2015 maps but will these be compatible with the hard drive system.. ... - .- -.

Thx Stan, thx Nino, got it.

Stan's idea of pumping a new satnav system into the head unit would be brilliant. Or there was just a way of getting a map update by hacking the HDD. Either way, there will be a long list of customers waiting for whoever cracks this.... Discoverys, Evoques, and Sports would take it too I'd think. So potentially in the 1000's.

Stan I think you said the whole system is MOST, is that right for 2010-2012 era?

. Cheers, Greg

yes it is Greg..

these navigation boxes sound like the way to go...they run android on which igo is loaded and as maybe most know igo has a great interface and is very customisable and easily updated to the latest mapping....
these boxes also allow you to use the touch screen for destination input etc.. ... - .- -.
