Before you do anything else you could just pull one of the other 4 pin relays on the board and plug it into where the yellow bit was and see if you et the result you want.

Ok, but which one? I don't want to pull something that's going to cause me any problems.

I couldn't see a list of what each relay does.

The one imeadiatly to the right of the removed yellow one serves the rear fan blower so you should be able to use that without incurring any problems.

Great, just tried that and it worked, as expected. Key on, 12v on. However it was a 5 pin. I guess ill get that type.

It seems that the 4 cigarette plugs are and two separate rings.

The front 3 are on one ring controlled by that relay, and the one in the boot is on a separate as even with the relay removed that was still on. This is the one of most concern as this is what the fridge will be plugged into.

Fuse 1 on the rear fuse board feeds the two cigar sockets and the front accessory socket.
Fuse 7 feeds the rear accessory socket that you want for your fridge etc.
You are going to have to leave this with me until tomorrow if that's ok so that I can check on my car in daylight and come up with a solution for you.

Had a think, don't need to wait until tomorrow.
As the rear accessory socket is fed directly from a fuse without using a relay to operate it via the ignition you will need to fit a relay in the circuit
The easiest way is to use my mod as outlined in the Wiki, details in the link below.
Not too difficult and it does work.

I have been reading the discussion and solutions concerning the 12V cigar plug with much interest.
When I look at my fusebox I do not have anything plugged into this socket (see photo).
Comparing the photo from Philips with mine, I can see no difference between the placed fuses, more specific the 20A fuse in position 1 is places with both of us. Therefore I am puzzled that when he removes the relay the power on the cigar lighters goes down..... since mine functions with no relay placed at all......
Can I plug it in anyway? or will there be damage?




And what I still have not heard is wether the relay from halfords (Halfords HEF553 Relay 12V 30A 4 PIN) is the right one......

I have the Yellow relay ( it only has 2 pins ) , which means that the Cigar lighters and APS ( Auxiliary Power Sockets) are always live when I remove the keys

What i really want is for the Cigar lighter/charger in the centre console to come on when I turn the ignition on, and turn off when I remove the keys

The four 12v green relays in my photo are all 5 pin, so I removed the Yellow relay and replaced it with one of the green relays to test, and sure enough the Cigar lighter socket now only works when the ignition is turned on !

So all you need is another Tyco green 5 pin relay ( preferably without the diode ) and replace the Yellow relay in my photo below
